Last July 28, I had the chance to watch one of the best-known musical all over the world, Cats.
When I saw their billboard along Magallanes, right away I told myself that I should not let this opportunity pass. I knew that I really wanted to see this musical because I knew then that it was

one of the best musicals that should be watched. Though I am not a big fan of cats (I am a dog lover), but there was just something that I thought I must see it. And so, the next moment I had the chance to get online, I checked the tickets. Much to my surprise, the tickets are really expensive. It must really be that good, I said. And mind you, it was just March, but seats were almost all taken. Good thing that there were still tickets for the my preferred price. After purchasing them at the National Bookstore, I knew it was official, I would get to see Cats already... Yahoo!!!
Come the day of the musical, I did not know what to wear, if I would do formal or can I do casual? It is CCP, I said, so it should be formal. But, it is just a play, I thought, I can be casual. But in the end, I decided to do a semi-formal attire.
I slept during the day, until around 2PM and off to my friend's house whom I will be watching the musical with. I arrived at their place late so the plan of having a haircut before the play was cancelled. Yup, I even decided to have a haircut just for the play.
We arrived at CCP complex around 7-ish and the play will start at 8:00PM (sharp, it says in

their ticket). Good thing we are early, we still had time to pass by Starbucks and buy coffee (iced tea for me) before the play. While waiting for our turn at the cashier, guess who I saw there. The first girl I courted during high school with her daughter. I was hesitating to approach her but still I did (even after ditching her during her wedding). We said our hi and hello and sya na ba ung anak mo, ang laki na, hello baby, etc... She was with her family and hubby was not around (whew, good thing). Then, our drinks were served and I said my goodbye to her already. Off to CCP.
At

the entrance, I can already see the attire of the other guests. Good thing I went semi-formal. Some women were in their gowns, while men are in their long sleeves and slacks. Was this a red-carpet event, I thought? We bought these paper binoculars before we went inside. And I was surprised to see where our seats were located. It was too high na nakakalula talaga sya. We were seated at the 2nd row of the balcony, but the stage was still visible. One good thing about our seats were it was kinda a top-view of the stage so we can see everything.

And they were right, the moment, the long hand pointed to 12 (looking at my watch), the lights were dimmed and music started playing. It was starting already, I was really excited to see their costumes and all. After an hour and 15 minutes, we had our 20 minute break. That's the time when we had the chance to take pictures with the backdrops available in the lobby.

The musical ended almost after 3 hours. Leah Salonga is still great, it was the first time I heard her sing live. There is really no doubt that she is where she is right now. But her part was just short. She only appeared like twice, and sang only one song with lesser dance steps. I think that is where she had the difficulty with the musical, she could not sing and dance at the same time. But still she did not disappoint the entire audience (of course, love your own, right?).
After the musical, we were hoping that there would be meeting-the-stars type of an activity.

The actors/actresses did not go out anymore to meet with the audience. Such a bummer! I also did not opt to buy their souvenir, because it was waaaaaay toooo expensive. It costs P500 bucks. We waited for around 30 mins in the lobby before we can go outside because it was really raining too hard. Now thinking about it, could it be that one of the cats were out of tuned that's why it rained soo hard during that night, hehehe...
Overall, I would say my money was really worth the experience. It really felt great that I get to see such a masterpiece. I was really proud that I had that opportunity, so proud that if I can only include it in my resume, I would. Hahaha...
