Pick-Up and Pig-Out

Last Sunday, my brother and I picked up our parents from the airport. They flew to Iloilo last August 12, because my mom had to attend their Jubilarian alumni homecoming. My mom knew about this since last June, and right after telling me of their intention to come. I offered to pay for their tickets as my gift for their 37th Wedding anniversary last July 7. While both of my siblings took charged of their accommodation; 1 night fee from my bro and the other 2 nights by my sis. It was such a good feeling that we are able to provide such gifts to our parents already. Thanks to the blessings from God as well.

So right after picking them up from the airport around 650PM, we went to Mall of Asia to have our dinner. Because there were no food at home, since I dont know how to cook and my bro is too lazy to do so. My brother suggested that we will have dinner at KKK. Never heard of it, and I have not tried it there. He said that the food was good there and that the price is reasonably priced.

When we arrived there, there was another family who was waiting to be seated. Okay lang, my mind was made up that we will try it there kasi sawa na ako sa Aling Tonyangs. And during that time, I did not want to eat any fried food because during the 3 days that my parents were gone, all that I had were fried. I really want a home-cooked type of food.

We ordered 4 viands, Inihaw na Liempo na Bacon-Cut, Baked Tahong, Rellenong Pusit and their best-seller, Kare-Kareng Baka. For the drinks, good thing they had bottomless iced tea, another good part is, they offer bottomless sago't gulaman.

The food were great, I liked the taste. It was sooo good that it was the first time, that we ordered that much food without bringing home extra.

We still had time to go inside the mall and do a little window shopping. But upon entering the mall, my dad saw the ride that MOA offers to their senior citizens and disabled customers. Of course, me and my brother were too shy to ride that cart; we just left it to both of our parents and just met them at the exit near our parking area.

We seldom go out anymore lately because my brother is too busy with something else. But I still make it a point that when we do, we will have a good time.

5th TV Appearance

Yesterday, August 17, 2010, I commented again on their Punto Por Punto issue. Transcript is below:

But this time, they did not display it at the end but just a short comment below the television. I don't know why but this is becoming an addiction already. Well, kanya-kanyang trip lang din talaga yan, sa natutuwa ako na lumalabas ung pangalan ko sa tv eh. hehehe...

4th TV Apperance

Today, Umagang Kay Ganda showed my comment for the 4th time in their Punto Por Punto segment of Ka Tuning (Anthony Taberna). Below is the transcript:

Issue:

This "addiction" started 3 weeks ago, since then the show would show my comments at least once a week. It was just this week, that they showed my comment last Monday and 2nd time, today.

I am just thrilled because at least I may not be a star who does TV shows or acting, but still my name gets to be displayed on TV. I call that as my TV appearance already. They used to include the profile picture of the one who made the comment but they stopped it since this week.

CATS, The Musical

Last July 28, I had the chance to watch one of the best-known musical all over the world, Cats.

When I saw their billboard along Magallanes, right away I told myself that I should not let this opportunity pass. I knew that I really wanted to see this musical because I knew then that it was one of the best musicals that should be watched. Though I am not a big fan of cats (I am a dog lover), but there was just something that I thought I must see it. And so, the next moment I had the chance to get online, I checked the tickets. Much to my surprise, the tickets are really expensive. It must really be that good, I said. And mind you, it was just March, but seats were almost all taken. Good thing that there were still tickets for the my preferred price. After purchasing them at the National Bookstore, I knew it was official, I would get to see Cats already... Yahoo!!!

Come the day of the musical, I did not know what to wear, if I would do formal or can I do casual? It is CCP, I said, so it should be formal. But, it is just a play, I thought, I can be casual. But in the end, I decided to do a semi-formal attire.

I slept during the day, until around 2PM and off to my friend's house whom I will be watching the musical with. I arrived at their place late so the plan of having a haircut before the play was cancelled. Yup, I even decided to have a haircut just for the play.

We arrived at CCP complex around 7-ish and the play will start at 8:00PM (sharp, it says in their ticket). Good thing we are early, we still had time to pass by Starbucks and buy coffee (iced tea for me) before the play. While waiting for our turn at the cashier, guess who I saw there. The first girl I courted during high school with her daughter. I was hesitating to approach her but still I did (even after ditching her during her wedding). We said our hi and hello and sya na ba ung anak mo, ang laki na, hello baby, etc... She was with her family and hubby was not around (whew, good thing). Then, our drinks were served and I said my goodbye to her already. Off to CCP.

At the entrance, I can already see the attire of the other guests. Good thing I went semi-formal. Some women were in their gowns, while men are in their long sleeves and slacks. Was this a red-carpet event, I thought? We bought these paper binoculars before we went inside. And I was surprised to see where our seats were located. It was too high na nakakalula talaga sya. We were seated at the 2nd row of the balcony, but the stage was still visible. One good thing about our seats were it was kinda a top-view of the stage so we can see everything.

And they were right, the moment, the long hand pointed to 12 (looking at my watch), the lights were dimmed and music started playing. It was starting already, I was really excited to see their costumes and all. After an hour and 15 minutes, we had our 20 minute break. That's the time when we had the chance to take pictures with the backdrops available in the lobby.

The musical ended almost after 3 hours. Leah Salonga is still great, it was the first time I heard her sing live. There is really no doubt that she is where she is right now. But her part was just short. She only appeared like twice, and sang only one song with lesser dance steps. I think that is where she had the difficulty with the musical, she could not sing and dance at the same time. But still she did not disappoint the entire audience (of course, love your own, right?).

After the musical, we were hoping that there would be meeting-the-stars type of an activity. The actors/actresses did not go out anymore to meet with the audience. Such a bummer! I also did not opt to buy their souvenir, because it was waaaaaay toooo expensive. It costs P500 bucks. We waited for around 30 mins in the lobby before we can go outside because it was really raining too hard. Now thinking about it, could it be that one of the cats were out of tuned that's why it rained soo hard during that night, hehehe...

Overall, I would say my money was really worth the experience. It really felt great that I get to see such a masterpiece. I was really proud that I had that opportunity, so proud that if I can only include it in my resume, I would. Hahaha...
